The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an evolving, unprecedented public health crisis that has necessitated several emergency measures to keep the Fremont community safe and help slow the spread of the disease. In accordance with the Alameda County Health Officer’s Order issued on March 16, 2020 and the City’s emergency proclamation, changes to City of Fremont operations include the cancellation of all City events and non-essential meetings, the closure of most City facilities through April 7, 2020, and the modification or suspension to most non-essential City services.
Today’s update highlights an upcoming free Small Business Administration (SBA) webinar on April 3, closure of City tennis courts effective April 1, and daytime street closure for construction on Paseo Padre Parkway and Walnut Avenue April 1 and 2.
Free SBA Webinar for Tri-City Businesses
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) offers businesses supportive services and funding, including low interest Economic Injury Disaster Loans for businesses impacted by COVID-19. This webinar will provide an overview of SBA’s Disaster Loan program and the new programs and benefits available to business owners as a result of the CARES Act.

Fremont Tennis Courts Now Closed Among other Recreation and Park Facilities
The City of Fremont continues taking measures to help protect the health and well-being of the Fremont community. At this time all recreation/park facilities, playgrounds, picnic tables, dog park, basketball/sand volleyball/tennis courts, skatepark, programs, classes, facility rentals are cancelled/closed. Daytime Street Closure on Paseo Padre Parkway at Walnut Avenue on April 1 and 2
The intersection at Paseo Padre Parkway and Walnut Avenue will be repaved over two consecutive days this week, Wednesday, April 1, and Thursday, April 2. Paseo Padre Pkwy. will be closed in both directions at Walnut Ave. between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Emergency vehicles will still be able to get through the intersection. All other traffic on Paseo Padre will be detoured to Civic Center Drive and Liberty Street. Driveways to Kaiser Hospital and the County Court House will still be accessible. One lane will always remain open on Walnut Avenue for through traffic but turns will be restricted at Paseo Padre.
